When applying for jobs, follow up is extremely important. When I apply for jobs online or in the paper, I create a spreadsheet or a list of companies I applied for. I’ll put the company name, persons name and phone number, position, source, and any other pertinent information.

Then about a week or so after I have sent my resume, I call everyone on my list. I just make it a quick call to find out if they have received my application, etc. This way it forces the company to look at your resume again and keeps your name in their head. It also, shows that you are interested in the position and are capable of following through.
