Choose Your Own Boss

Recently I was getting gas from a convenient store and I over heard a clerk make a commit to another customer “I know, I need a new job but I hate to interview because they always ask such dumb questions.” He asked her “like what?” “What kind of supervisor do you want? Like I have a say in it or something.” I smiled at her as she rang up my items and tried not to put my two cents in.

She had a valid point but I think she was missing the point of the question. Think about what they ask you in interviews. Are the questions always so straightforward? No would be the correct response. Many interviewers want to see what you think of yourself and will ask round about ways to get the answer.

No she will not get to choose her boss but she does get to say what her ideal boss would be. This helps them figure out what kind of employee she is. Is she needy or independent? These questions are asked for a reason and its not to annoy the applicant.

Try not to be so critical with what they ask and don’t give them funny looks when they do. Just think quickly about your answer and say what you really think.
