Be Prepared for the Job Interview
Be prepared when you walk into a company to fill out an application. Have the name and address of the places you previously were employed at. Have the dates you worked there. Keep it on a piece of paper tucked away in your purse or wallet. Nothing looks worse then a half filled out application or having to ask someone for a phonebook to look it up.
Also have the names of your references. First and last name, street address and a current phone number. If you don’t have a current number for someone don’t use him or her as a reference. It doesn’t look good for you, if they call a reference on your application and the phone number is disconnected or changed. Use people who will give you good references not someone who can barely remember your name. If you use someone for a reference let that person know. So when they get that strange message on the machine they don’t just delete it.
Another important thing is to actually know the names of your former managers. You don’t want them getting a hold of someone who is not the manager and getting the wrong information about you or worse yet getting bad information from someone because they mistake you for someone else.
Have these things on you at all times, so when you are passing by a company and you see that “help wanted” sign you are prepared to fill out that application.
